In an older Substack, I wrote about the author's fear of self publishing because of the prejudice surrounding it. It's not wrong or false. It exists and it is visible, but that is because we are not following success stories in self-publishing: also existing and visible.
E.L. James - Fifty Shades of Grey or Rupi Kaur - Milk and Honey, were massive self publishing successes, later picked up by traditional publishers. They didn't ask for permission.
This monday I launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for self-publishing Burning Josephine, the translation of Arde Josefina, my first novel, awarded with the Mauricio Achar literature prize of 2017. It has been a wild ride. We've already hit 69% of the funding goal in just two days! My backers are true visionaries. I feel successful way before the finishing line, just for stirring the wheel. For kicking the establishment in the ankle.
I am happy, grateful and excited to pierce into the future.
